Story kicks off by Amar conducting an investigation on serial killing occuring around that involves higher ranked police officers. plot then goes on how VJS, FaFa and Ulaga Nayagan’s characters comw in altogether. This Vikram is also sort of a sequel from the first Vikram film and the after story continuing the film Kaithi.

My Review:

Vikram, the much awaited film that marks Kamal Haasan’s return to the film business, has finally released in theaters today. Lokesh Kanagaraj wrote and directed the film, which is hailed as a complete action thriller. Along with Kamal Haasan, Vikram has a large ensemble cast that includes Vijay Sethupathi, Fahadh Faasil, Narain, Arjun Das and others even characters from Kaithi.

So did the Kamal Hassan + Lokesh Kanagaraj’s combo live up to the hype and fulfilled the expectations?

The answer is YES. A big big yes. Kamal Hassan was so sure and confident about this film’s success that even I started wondering what is so special. Apart it just being a fan boy sambavam, what made Vikram a hype worthy film?

Ulaga Nayagan Kamal Hassan

After a four-year absence, Kamal Hassan returns to the big screen with Vikram. With great anticipation, the picture received a massive response from moviegoers. Kamal Hassan delivered a fierce performance, and the 67-year-old actor’s action moments enthralled the audience. I’m no one to speak of a man who has been acting since the age of 4. He is the encyclopedia of cinema on the whole and that is that!

I legit teared looking at Kamal Hassan Sir on screen! Engge yaa poninge! We all missed you so much Aandavareyyy! Such class and mass mixed performance. From grooving to Pathala Pathala to the power pack action scenes, Ulaga Nayagan ULAGA NAYAGAN THA YAA!!!

As the main character Vikram, Kamal Hsasan is just outstanding. In the film, the legendary actor is at his best, reminding us why he is regarded as one of the greatest performers of all time. At the same time, Kamal Hassan kindly takes a back seat in the picture when necessary, particularly in the first half where he less seen.

Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Cinematic Universe

I belong to the small group that disliked Master. I felt it was very half baked and somehow I was not impressed with the film and I was extremely disappointed with Master because I watched Maanagaram and Kaithi and I had my expectations. But now…. Lokesh has earned my trust back!

Vikram is that proper tailor made perfectly packaged action film that I was waiting for by Lokesh. This is a 100% Lokesh film because I bet Kamal Hassan would have certainly given his input for this film. Kamal Sir had mentioned that he proposed the idea of a sequel for Vikram and how all this begun with Lokesh. That’s the kind of passion Kamal Hassan has.

As everyone was aware, Lokesh is said to have been creating a multiverse of his own! It is very much evident in Vikram where there are numerous references from Kaithi in this film. Pretty much felt like an Indian Marvel Universe! So here’s a reminder from the man himself that you guys must revisit Kaithi for the connections of that film with Vikram.

Lokesh has given his all in all for this movie as directing his idol has always been his dream. Its a great comeback indeed! There is a well made execution with adequate screenplay and screen space for every character without leaving the audience to die in suspense… Lokesh has a huge vision that I am so eager to find out. Its Kaithi x Vikram x Thalapathy 67? or Kaithi 2? We will just have to wait.

Performances by The Cast

Fahadh Faasil has to be one of the very few performers who has managed to keep the rest of the cast engaged and in loop – including the icon Kamal Hassan – on the sidelines in a film. In Vikram, the actor has shown his incredible range as an actor and shines like no other in the action sequences. His eyes speaks volumes that cannot be comprehended! Adipolli aano. FaFa is an incredible actor. When he is in frame, each scene gets intense on a different experience. Truly an actor par excellence. Blessed to see him doing Tamil films.

As Santhanam, the vicious adversary who is also a full family guy, Vijay Sethupathi once again demonstrates his versatility. His moments with Kamal Hassan / FaFa are delightful to see in Vikram. VJS seems to be a perfect fit for a villain role. He really made justice to the role Sandhanam. I would choose Sandhanam > Bhavani in a heartbeat! Such a thrilling actor. Kudos Makkal Selvan.

And this. Right here. NADIPPIN NAYAGAN for a good god damn reason. What a man. What a powerful stunning cameo. This has got to be one of the best long lasting effect kin dof caemro. Suriya’s cameo entrance is a complete revelation. I have longed to see Suriya in this kind of a role. GO WATCH AND SEE FOR YOURSELF. Take a bow.

The remainder of the cast, which includes Chemban Vinod Jose, Narain, Kalidas Jayaram, Gayathrie Shankar, Arjun Das, Harish Uthaman, and others, has performed admirably.

Music by Anirudh

Vikram’s strange universe has come to life thanks to Anirudh Ravichander’s stunning original score. The musician has set the theaters on fire with his thundering background score, which will stick with audiences long after they leave the theater. The tunes are also good. The songs were amazing as well. I also noticed fresh bgms especially rocking ones for Sandhanam and Suriya’s character. *hush*

Overall, Vikram was an awe-inspiring new-age commercial thriller with top notch performances developed within the Lokesh Cinematic Universe and I am not complaining! So #Thalapathy67 / #Kaithi2? WE WILL HAVE TO WAIT.
